Hello readers! Your executive committee has been busy planning what we know will be a memorable fall conference. Why should you join us? Who doesn't love an opportunity to travel to a new city, take in the sights, try the local food, and meet new people? If I’m being honest, that is one of my favourite parts of conferences, and it feels a lot less daunting if you bring a friend along. So that’s the pitch – grab your friend and join us for a fun weekend this

October!

OK let’s get serious though too. Beyond the fun of it all, there’s something energizing about being surrounded by people who get it. Perioperative nurses all coming together with shared experiences, swapping stories, and reminding each other why we chose this profession in the first place. You leave feeling a little less alone, and a lot more inspired.

The vendor hall is another highlight. You get to see new products that might not have made it to your hospital yet, often with a hands-on component which is really fun. It’s also a chance to ask questions, discover tools that could actually make your day-to-day easier, and hopefully you can bring a few ideas back to your team.

Ok, I guess you’re learning that I think it’s all amazing. Because if I’m being honest, the learning sessions are just as exciting. Whether it’s diving into different specialties, brushing up on familiar procedures, or getting a closer look at new techniques, there’s always something that makes you think, “I can use this.” It’s practical, relevant knowledge you can take back to your practice. And let’s not forget, you’re earning continuing competency points while you’re at it…which makes the whole experience feel even more like a win-win.

But more than anything, it’s the excitement of the event and the feeling you leave with. A little more connected, a little more energized, and maybe even a little more excited to head back to work.
